Paul Mitchell Review

Hey guys!  I know I haven't blogged in a while, but I've been pretty busy.  We found out our move date, and I've had lots of appointments later.  So, I've been buying Chi Flat irons for years and years.  I have always raved about how much I love them!  Well, while I was gone, BOTH (yes, both) of my Chi irons went out... all in the same week.  I decided I was going to opt for a different brand because I was rather annoyed.   I've decided to do a review of the flat iron I chose, which was the Paul Mitchell express ion smooth.

At first glance, I didn't think I was going to like this iron as much as I liked my Chi's.  It's got 1.25" ceramic plates (as opposed to the 1" Chi I'm used to) and they don't advertise that it can curl, wave, etc.  I really need a versatile iron because I don't like to have 5 different tools turned on at the same time (hello, fire hazard!).  It does have a temp control, which I like.  It only goes up to 400F, which is about 25 degrees less than my Chi... but it feels hotter.  So far, it glides MUCH smoother than my Chi irons ever did.  And, it curls!  VOILA!  When I'm doing the curls I do notice that it also doesn't cause the creasing that my Chi's always did.

I like it BETTER than my Chi's, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars :)

Tip of the Day

I've been SUPER busy this week (which I love!) so I haven't been keeping up with my blog!  Sorry, fans.  Here's my tip of the day:
Try not to wear your hair in a ponytail or tight braid too much.   All the pulling and securing puts a strain on your hair, and it won't grow as fast as it would if you wear it down most of the time!
Happy hair growing ;)

Roots B Gone

If you're tired of touching up your roots, (with blonde highlights/color) but you don't want to get rid of your blonde completely, I have the solution for you! You can add a few lowlights to your hair, close to or 1-2 shades darker than your NATURAL color...this will help blend your blonde in with your natural hair.

Sexy Boudoir

Last week, I did hair and makeup for a Boudoir photoshoot. It was so fun making everyone feel beautiful!

"is an ombré right for me?"

Ombrés are very good for people who want low maintenance, and don't want to have highlights touched up every 4-6 weeks! The closer you keep the base to your natural color, the more low maintenance.

Pro Tip of the day

I'm going to give a "pro tip of the day" to all my blog followers to give you some ideas of how you can keep your hair healthy, soft, & growing fast!

Todays tip- massage your scalp at night when you go to bed, or in the shower take an extra 5 mins to massage while shampooing.  This promotes blood flow to your hair follicles, which keeps it growing :)

my setup

I just wanted to show y'all real quick what my setup for my "hair corner" looks like.   Of course, this picture was taken when I first set it up, and it's much more cluttered now... but you get the idea :)

Matching old colors

This week, I had a new client from out of town.  She & her husband are only here for 5 weeks TDY, and she heard about me and wanted to get her hair done.  She was very happy with her highlights & lowlights, they matched her old colors that her regular stylist did PERFECTLY :)

Mardi Gras Hair

This was done on a really fun client this week.  Before, she just had teal and pink... I called it "mermaid hair".  Now, I think "Mardi Gras hair" is more suiting :)  this is also the first waterfall braid I've attempted.  I think I did ok for my first try ;)
Color is my favorite to do on hair...especially fashion colors like this.
